Block paved driveways in Haywards Heath, typically £150 per square metre

Patterns and borders with a practical purpose
Block paving gives you room to shape the frontage rather than settle for one flat expanse. Block colour, size and texture set the overall look, while the laying pattern and border can define parking bays, paths or entrances. Contrasting edges may organise a wide area or tie the paving to details on the house. We plan those choices alongside vehicle movement, thresholds and drainage, so the design remains useful. Individual blocks can also be lifted and relaid if future access beneath the surface is needed.

What sits behind the guide price
Block paving is typically quoted at around £150 per square metre, but that figure is a guide rather than a fixed price for every site. Dimensions, excavation, ground condition, access, drainage and design details all affect the quotation. Proper construction includes a compacted sub-base, secure edge restraints and a level laying course. We set the blocks to the agreed pattern, brush jointing sand into the gaps and compact the complete surface. Skipping those stages may save time at first, but not trouble later.
A frontage with order and flexibility
Defined parking areas
Borders and pattern changes can separate parking from paths and entrances.
Repairable individual units
Local blocks can be lifted and relaid without cutting a continuous surface.

Questions and answers
- Is £150 per square metre the final price?
- No. It is a typical guide for block paving, not a fixed rate for every driveway. The final quotation reflects excavation, access, dimensions, ground condition, drainage and the chosen blocks. Borders, detailed patterns and level changes also affect the work.
- Will weeds grow through block paving?
- Most growth begins in debris that gathers in the joints rather than pushing up from deep below. Regular sweeping and keeping joints topped up with suitable sand can help. Organic matter should be removed before it settles and gives seeds somewhere to grow.
- Can damaged driveway blocks be replaced?
- Individual blocks can often be lifted and replaced if matching units are available. The supporting layer should also be checked, especially where blocks have sunk or moved. Older paving may have weathered, so a new replacement block might not match immediately.
